French socialist Arnaud Montebourg: “ I will apologize for the French war crimes if elected president”

The French socialist candidate for the preliminary presidential elections Arnaud Montebourg has indicated that the first action he would undertake once reaching the Elysee Palace is to “apologize to Algeria” for the atrocities perpetrated against the Algerian people during the colonial period.

• He has also asserted that he respected the Algerian standpoint vis-à-vis the Libyan crisis which consists in not interfering in the internal affairs of this nation.

• Montbourg has further added that the upcoming president will endeavor to start afresh and wipe out a decade of chaos caused by Nicholas Sarkozy’s policy both at the internal and external levels.

• Taking the floor before journalists at a press conference here in Algiers, the French official, who is born to Algerian origins, has indicated that he understood the Algerian position toward the conflict in Libya” Algeria has the right to keep away from interfering in the nations’ internal affairs even if they share the same borders”.
